DUI -- How does H. 264 measure up to the data?

The House Judiciary Committee recently voted out H.264 a DUI bill which increases penalties for repeat DUI offenders. In this post the Vermont Center for Justice Research shows that the data supports the direction taken by the House Judiciary Committee.

Crime Statistics

A major focus of the Vermont Center for Justice Research is the analysis of crime statistics. Relying primarily on official crime data reported by law enforcement agencies to the Vermont Criminal Information Center at the Department of Public Safety, the Center conducts a variety of small analysis projects known as Crime Bytes which focus on the nature of crime in Vermont, victimization patterns, defendants, and the spatial distribution of crime.
