About VCJR

 Vermonters for Criminal Justice Reform (VCJR) is a charitable non-profit organization working to improve the lives of justice-involved people, their children/families and communities through innovative direct services and policy advocacy.  VCJR operates a specialized re-entry and recovery center for justice-involved people living with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders located in beautiful downtown Burlington, Vermont.

 About This Position

The Harm Reduction Services Coordinator:

Provides case management and specialized intervention services to justice-involved people living with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders.  This includes assessment, service coordination, risk reduction knowledge and skills development, treatment planning, crisis intervention, drug overdose prevention and related services.  Coordinates comprehensive services including drug treatment, mental health treatment, medical treatment, emergency and permanent housing, and recovery supports.  Supports individuals transitioning from incarceration back into the community.  Other key tasks include program documentation, data collection and reporting; participation in ongoing supervision, case staffing and training; and completion of various administrative tasks and other job duties as assigned.  Driving required in the performance of a variety of job duties including occasional attendance at meetings/trainings and transport of program participants statewide.  Must provide own vehicle and acceptable automobile insurance.  Must maintain a valid Vermont driver's license and an acceptable driving record (mileage reimbursed).  This position is directly supervised by VCJR Director of Client Services Jess Kirby and is indirectly supervised by the VCJR Executive Director Tom Dalton.

 Experience

 Bachelor's degree preferred and 1-2 years experience in human services or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience from which considerable knowledge and skills have been acquired

 Counseling and case management experience working with justice-involved people, people living with substance use disorders, people living with mental health disorders, unhoused people or people living with chronic health conditions is a plus

Compensation

 Anticipated starting salary is $46,000 per year for full time employment (40 hours per week) plus benefits with a $500 bonus upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period
